Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Preferences: The preferred candidate should have excellent organizational skills, strong computer skills, and recent financial aid experience working in a financial aid office. The ideal candidate will be multi-task and detail oriented and able to adapt in various situations. This position requires a person with excellent oral and written communication skills to perform daily interaction with students, parents, and other university departments. This person should also be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed. Experience with PeopleSoft and Banner would be a plus.
Job Description:
This position is a coordinator, responsible for advising prospective and current UCF students at the UCF Downtown Campus. This position will review electronic processing reports, assess financial aid program eligibility. This position will contact students, departments, agencies and technical staff to resolve application processing problems.
This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SDES division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or his/her designee.
Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Counseling occurs by telephone, in-person, and email communications. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs.
Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-Based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs. Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.
Perform and understand needs analysis procedures/process. Review financial aid application documents (verification) for accuracy and completeness.
Serve as a resource to other professional, administrative, and clerical staff members in interpreting financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
Act as a liaison between the financial aid office and selected university departments/units/agencies for the Downtown Campus. Responsibilities may include information sharing, coordination of programs between departments, or administering/processing financial aid for selected groups of students.
Provides assistance to Downtown Campus generalist staff with regard to financial aid regulations or decisions.
Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional sources of financial aid and regulations
Prepare, maintain, and analyze various reports; assist with development of financial aid policies and procedures for the Downtown Campus
Develop, publicize, and conduct public workshops, seminars, etc. at secondary schools, state colleges, or at other community events/gatherings to promote and explain financial aid programs to prospective students and their parents
Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures as well as administrative practices.
Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
