Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.
Preferences: The preferred candidate will have recent financial aid experience, and excellent customer service and presentation skills. PeopleSoft experience is a plus.
Job Description: Responsible for the dissemination of information for Student Financial Assistance with primary emphasis on phone counseling.
Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students’ financial needs. Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, Campus-based aid, Stafford loan, scholarships, and other programs. Interprets to students the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs. Counseling occurs by telephone, through personal interviews, and email communications.
Participates in outreach activities and presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and/or the general public in workshop or training sessions.
Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
