The successful candidate will have management and leadership experience in post-secondary financial aid environments. The Director of Financial Aid will ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Institutional laws and regulations. Responsibilities include the use of best practices is disseminating financial aid information to students, assist in the development of financial literacy for students that includes responsible borrowing and loan repayment obligations. The director will prepare and maintain the office budget, assist in the development of scholarship criteria, prepare reports for the University administration, prepare the FISAP & HEERF reporting, and develop appropriate policies and procedures that cover federal, state and institutional financial aid programs. The Director will Report to the Chief Enrollment Officer.

Essential Functions
• Oversee financial aid operations including federal, state, institutional aid and scholarships
• Assures that knowledge of all regulations and policies pertaining to federal aid regulations meet cash management and disbursement requirements of Title IV aid
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and develops, maintains, and revises as necessary relevant policies and procedures in accordance with federal regulations and institutional policies
• Develops communications to inform students of available financial aid and processes for the awarding of all available grants, scholarships and federal student loans
• Reviews appeals and special circumstances and manages the professional judgment process
• Serves as the compliance officer for the financial aid office including managing audits and ensuring timely submission of the FISAP and HEERF reporting
• Reviews student files to ensure accurate funding.
• Provides counseling for students, parents, faculty and staff regarding financial aid programs and eligibility requirements and any repayment obligations and schedules
• Work closely with the Chief Enrollment Officer, VP of Finance, and the President
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Responsible for Auxiliary Services that includes bookstore, copy services, and food services
• Plans financial aid disbursement schedules
• Monitors & maintains electronic data, retrieval & reconciliation of all financial aid funds.
• Oversee the A-133 Audit
• Chair the Scholarship committee

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5-7 years of staff management experience in post-secondary university financial aid office
• Experience awarding non-traditional, online students in varying enrollment terms helpful
• Experience with SalesForce and Ellucian Colleague including back-end setup preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and public presentation skills required; Bilingual proficiency in Spanish highly desirable
