FASFAA's Legislative Summit

The fourth goal of FASFAA's 2021-2024 Strategic Plan directs the association to "Advocate for and promote student aid and postsecondary education's values and benefits to stakeholders in various communities and contexts while keeping diversity, equity, and inclusion at the core of FASFAA’s efforts.Within that goal, objective 4.4 calls on FASFAA to "Connect with fellow associations (e.g. NASFAA, AACRAO, NACUBO, etc.) by hosting at least one legislative summit, symposium, or forum each year."

Accordingly, we are excited to invite postsecondary professionals from across the state to an annual cross-organizational Legislative Summit to discuss key Florida legislative topics. Our virtual summits will be a time for stakeholders from all facets of higher education to come together and talk about both sides of an issue, what their institution might be doing, and how we can move forward as a collective to best serve our students.

We are happy to announce that the 2022 topic regards holding transcripts if a student owes a balance to the institution. In addition, this year's Legislative Summit includes a presentation by Julia Karon, Sarah Pingel, and Elizabeth Looker from Ithaka S+R about their “Solving Stranded Credits” report (https://sr.ithaka.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/SR-Report-Solving-Stranded-Credits-100520.pdf).
