STATE TITLE: DIRECTOR, STUDENT FINANCIAL AID

The University of Central Florida, located in Orlando, FL, is a metropolitan research university with an enrollment of approximately 60,000 students. The university currently invites applications for a Director for the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
The selected candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and skills in managing and directing staff and issues related to the administration of all student aid for the university. The Director will possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the role of student aid counseling, and its importance to students within a large public university environment. The Director will be able to develop new and strengthen existing relationships within and outside of the university community. He/she will also possess a knowledge and understanding of relevant technology and innovative programs to help support students meet their financial obligations to complete a college/university degree.
The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions and Student Financial Assistance, is
responsible for the management and supervision of all financial aid activities for both undergraduate and graduate students, and works closely with the management team of the UCF College of Medicine’s Financial Aid Office. Participation in professional workshops, meetings and training sessions to ensure adequate professional development in, compliance with, and a working knowledge of, all state and federal financial aid regulations and policies, is essential.
The Director chairs and coordinates the university scholarship committee; provides appropriate guidance and information to ensure university compliance in the completion of all required federal, state and agency reports; provides information and guidance in complying with federal, state and internal audits and program reviews; oversees the proper reporting of financial aid fiscal data to federal, state and institutional organizations as required by state and federal law, and institutional policy.

Minimum State Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Preferred qualifications: a master’s or doctorate degree from an accredited institution, a minimum of seven years in a management or supervisory role in a student financial assistance/financial aid office within a large public university; demonstrated leadership, supervision and motivation of professional staff; an understanding of financial aid leveraging, and a demonstrated commitment to access and diversity.
The selected candidate will have a positive history and experience in managing complex budgets and have outstanding leadership, public relations, communications and interpersonal skills.
The selected candidate will be able to effectively communicate the university’s mission, vision and goals to various constituents and community groups, develop and implement strategies for awarding financial assistance that promotes student awareness of financial aid resources, help inform students about the realities of reducing student indebtedness, support cultural and ethnic diversity and a talented academic student body.

Special Conditions: Selected candidate must possess a valid Class E driver’s license, and have the ability to travel independently to multiple locations or ability to provide own transportation.
