Organizational Summary:
The USFSP Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is responsible for coordinating and administering all student financial assistance awarded to USFSP students, in compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations and guidelines. The office is the main point of contact for all financial aid program information for current and prospective students and parents. The office is responsible for coordinating and managing the awarding and disbursement of financial aid funds on an annual basis- interpreting changes to federal, state and institutional regulations and translating the effect/impact to students and parents in a manner they can understand, particularly first generation students- providing an array of financial aid support options for students and their families and providing oversight to monitor the entire process to ensure institutional compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional laws and regulations.


Position Summary:
The Financial Education Advisor position is responsible for assisting with development of a financial literacy education program across USF St. Petersburg.


Responsibilities:
Assists with outreach presentations for the office specifically related to financial literacy education and awareness. Coordinates and conducts workshops, seminars and training sessions on financial literacy topics, particularly personal money management, and debt management, repayment options for student loans and money management life skills. Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of all aspects of financial aid process, eligibility issues, and possible exceptions for extenuating circumstances. Provides individualized counseling services in person and by phone to students, prospective students and parents. Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the goals of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position reports to the Team Manager of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with one year of related experience in a higher education environment, preferably financial aid. General understanding of financial literacy topics with presentation capabilities.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Must be able to access information and reports in the National Student Loan Data System and must not be in default on Title IV student loans.

Preferred Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Instructional Technology Education, or a related field; one year supervising experience, one year of experience in credit counseling, debt management, or financial planning; certification in personal financial planning or debt management. Experience conducting educational activities as a presenter and content expert; excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with individuals on and off campus in a professional manner.
