UCF Student Financial Assistance- Business Data Analyst II- Job 499509
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Financial Assistance (position 38997), this position is responsible for developing computer applications and programs to ensure compliance and quality control in the processing and awarding of financial aid, and the required reporting to federal, state, and other agencies. In addition, candidate will serve as a liaison to program coordinators in all areas of Student Financial Assistance to evaluate and assess computer processes to uncover potential problems and recommend corrective action/s as needed. This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SDES division to a commensurate level position as determined by the Vice President of Student Development and Enrollment Services or his/her designee.
Research business needs and develops functional and system design specifications to monitor and ensure compliance with regulations and program guidelines. Notify users of any limitations that may impact processing or reporting of data. Responds to changes in financial aid regulations or policy to assure compatibility of computer programs with new requirements.
Designs and runs queries to ensure compliance of financial aid policies. Seeks innovative methods of extracting information from the computer system to uncover potential problems in compliance and anticipates and circumvents future problems. Uses SAS EG and other tools to manipulate data and produce actionable data files.
Creates and analyzes reports developed specifically for quality control purposes. Recommends corrective action involving changes in automated and/or non-automated systems. Creates ad hoc reports and modifies existing computer programs as necessary to assure the most up-to-date sources of data for the user.
Consults with the director, associate directors, and aid program coordinators to evaluate, assess, and determine user needs and provide analytical support through specially prepared business processes and computer programming.
Acts as end user PeopleSoft support person for software issues that arise within the SFA office. Designs customized and personalized email communication and surveys to be sent to aid applicants.
Manages import process for large data loads received from external business partners, such as the U.S. Department of Education and the State of Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance (OFSA). Ensures appropriate quality assurance.
Supervises the computer equipment inventory control, hardware, and software concerns.
Supervises other technical staff involved in data collection and information distribution.
Maintains and modifies customized customer service system to manage student services and customer relations.
Assists in developing business processes and internal automated training options.
Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and to keep abreast of current rules and regulations.
Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Some evenings and weekends required.
Expected Salary: $65,518.00 – Negotiable
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Financial Aid. PeopleSoft Experience. Supervisory Experience, Experience with SQL, SAS EG, and PeopleSoft Query. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.
