The Financial Aid Counselor provides financial aid counseling to all students and parents and serves as the point of contact for students with unusual circumstances where decision discretion needs to be exercised. Responsible for the management of financial aid processing.
Some evenings may be necessary to assist with financial aid presentations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting with students, answering phones.
- Process verifications and corrections through Banner FA.
- Responsible for reviewing and adjusting COA accordingly to the enrollment status.
- Responsible ISIR Compare report.
- Assisting with the Over award, Pell Back offs, reviewing non verifiable student files to clear C Flags, and other federal reports.
- Assist the Associate Director with Appeals, Professional Judgements and Dependency Override processing.
- Assist the Associate Director with internal audits (file review).
- Counsel students and parents on various financial aid programs.
- Supervise Student worker for the Leesburg Campus
- Assist Director and Associate Director with Course out of Program evaluations
Qualifications
EDUCATION: B.A. or B.S. degree required. Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of financial aid student experience or three years of relevant financial experience. Two years of Banner/Ellucian experience preferred. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required |
