Overview:
The Director of Student Financial Services is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of all student financial aid records. The Director manages a system of data collection related to financial aid applications; evaluates eligibility for aid consistent with Department of Education regulations; communicates award information to students and lenders; counsels students concerning financial management practices and financing options; provides up-to-date financial aid program information through the web and other means; monitors compliance with institutional and governmental financial aid policies and procedures; supervises the activities of the Student Accounts Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain all student records in PowerFAIDS, the law school’s financial aid award information system and Net Partner, PowerFAID’s online student access system; set up new PowerFAIDS and Net Partner system parameters each year.
• Establish the law school’s Cost of Attendance each year, using the cost of tuition and fees approved by the Board of Governors and other student costs of living as permitted by U. S. Department of Education (USEd) regulations.
• Contact all admitted students regarding financial aid availability. Award eligible admitted students with federal student aid and send award letters which include institutional scholarships and federal aid.
• Meet with prospective and admitted students to discuss financial aid availability and eligibility at the law school.
• Download FAFSA records from the USEd using EdConnect into PowerFAIDS for enrolled and admitted students, award with appropriate aid funds.
• Send financial aid award letters to accepted students who have filed the FAFSA; notify enrolled students who have filed the FAFSA that their award information is available online in Net Partner.
• Complete the Verification process for students selected by USEd for review.
• Review application data for all students flagged by USEd with SAR Comments that require resolution; take appropriate action to resolve.
• Collect and review all required supporting documents from students for loan origination.
• Provide loan counseling to all students throughout the year.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ loan requests, as well as other required student submitted documents.
• Originate all federal student loans in PowerFAIDS; transmit and retrieve loan origination and disbursement files to and from USEd using EDConnect.
• Notify the Student Accounts Office when loan funds should be requested from the US Treasury.
• Manage the Book Voucher process each semester with the AMSL Online Bookstore.
• Track Federal Work-Study (FWS) earnings for all AMSL students. Ensure that students and supervisors are notified about FWS earnings and usage.
• Develop a FWS Handbook for Students and Supervisors and update the handbook annually.
• Work collaboratively with other law school administrative offices (e.g., Registrar, Admission, Office of Professional Development, Deans Offices) to ensure accuracy when providing services to students.
• Provide reports to the Deans’ offices when requested.
• Conduct Loan Exit Counseling meetings with each graduating student who has borrowed federal student loan funds in order to review their borrowing record, familiarity with their loan servicer, the loan repayment plan options and loan forgiveness provisions.
• Ensure that the law school’s website provides accurate information related to the Office of Financial Aid.
• Determine Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards for federal student aid recipients.
• Perform Return of Title IV (R2T4) calculations when students who are federal student aid recipients withdraw from the law school and ensure that appropriate loan funds are returned to USEd.
• Participate in professional development activities to ensure compliance with changes to the federal student aid programs.
• Complete the FISAP each year and file it with USEd.
• Work with the independent auditors contracted by the law school each year to complete all student financial aid aspects of the annual A-133 federal audit.
• Complete at least 8 hours of continuing education each year as required by the Florida Department Commission for Independent Education.
• Other duties as assigned.
Scholarship Coordination
• Coordinate AMSL scholarship eligibility for all continuing students each year.
• Administer the Robey Scholarship program each year, including advertising, student selection, essay collection and communication with the Robey Charitable Trust.
• Work with the Development Office to ensure maximum utilization of donor gifts and endowed scholarship funds.
• Maintain current information on the law school’s website and portal regarding external scholarships and writing competitions.
Student Accounts
• Ensure that student bills are accurate each semester so that scholarship and loan amounts are appropriate for each student’s tuition charge.
• Coordinate the 1098-T reporting process with the law school’s IT department and the Student Accounts Office.
• Coordinate institutional communication with the collection agency contracted by the law school.

Job Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience working in a financial aid office.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to financial aid.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Understanding and experience with relational databases.
• Understanding of technology use in delivering student services.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to foster and support effective relations with all constituents.

Desired:
• Graduate degree.
• Experience managing a comprehensive financial aid office.
• Experience in the design and implementation of student information systems.
• Familiarity with financial and income tax statements.

Salary Range: $85,500- $107,000, based on experience and education.
