UCF Position 32402 - Coordinator, Accounting

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience
Preferences: The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills, excellent accounting skills & knowledge, and recent accounting experience.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task, will be detail oriented, and have the ability to easily adapt to various situations and conflicting deadlines and exercise good judgment. A self-starter with experience in the higher education environment would be desired. Accounting bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
This individual must have advanced skills and experience in Microsoft Excel software.
Job Description:
Responsible for accounting functions and accounting budgets in the delivery of student financial aid. Assists in the implementation of procedures for quality controls and appropriate accounting and fiscal checks and balances to monitor and assure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations, and program guidelines. Assists lead in coordinating University, State, and institutional program budgets. Works as liaison between program managers and the accounting, insuring appropriate fiscal resolutions of accounts.
Also responsible for coordination of the delivery of Athletic student aid to ensure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and institutional policies. Works as liaison between Athletics, Student Accounts, Housing, and Finance & Accounting to ensure timely aid delivery and appropriate accounting processing. Assists in the development of new procedures to improve the athletic aid process.
Responsible for journal activity to be posted into the general ledger for financial aid accounts and assuring appropriate account balances are maintained.
Responsible for preparation and review of account reconciliations for compliance with financial aid and accounting. Reviews related transactions and makes a determination for correcting outstanding activity. This may include communication with various departments and internal program managers to ensure timely and accurate posting.
Identifies and resolves accounting problems and participates in evaluating alternatives and finding effective accounting solutions. Assists in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures and internal control policies and procedures in conjunction with other staff.
Responsible for the coordination and monitoring of NRA student financial assistance tax process.
Responsible for the billing of athletic service awards. Communicates with Finance and Accounting, Student Accounts, and Athletics in the appropriate payment and processing of all awards.
Assists with the coordination and processing of athletic service awards according to NCAA and institutional policies. Including input of athletic awards, counseling of student athletes, and audit of NCAA data input into Athletic Compliance Assistant database.
Monitors and adjusts the budget for SFA and Athletic tuition waivers as needed.
Reviews and maintains appropriate code setup for athletic item types so that awards post properly to Student Accounts and Finance & Accounting.
Insures timely communications to student athletes according to NCAA guidelines.
Attends NCAA conferences and workshops annually to remain up to date on the latest NCAA rules and regulations.
Assists Athletics and Finance & Accounting as needed with reconciliation of charges posted to accounting from the athletic student award processing.
Coordinates and reviews the processing and return of funds from stale dated financial aid refund checks.
Coordinates and reviews the return of funding for financial aid programs, federal, state, and private.
Assists in coordinating audits and program reviews.
Attend professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $48,054.00 to Negotiable
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
