Job Description

The Assistant Director, Financial Aid and Scholarships will assist in the planning, development, and administration of a comprehensive federal Title IV and state financial aid program for undergraduate and graduate students. Oversees the administration and management of all FGCU scholarships, including but not limited to FGCU Foundation scholarships, Admissions Merit scholarships, and private/outside scholarships.

Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Five years of experience in financial aid program administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Progressive financial aid experience in a higher education.

Experience with Banner or other automated financial aid systems.

Salary $65,000 - $68,000


Essential Job Duties

•Assists in the planning, development, and administration of a comprehensive federal (Title IV) financial aid program for undergraduate and graduate students.

•Supervision and management of staff responsible of federal verification, financial aid counseling.

•Works closely with financial aid operations staff to provide support and efficiencies to financial aid manager and advisors.

•Serves as point of contact and resource for financial aid manager and advisors for all matters related to financial aid counseling, advising, and federal verification.

•Oversees the management and administration of all FGCU scholarships, foundation scholarships, institutional tuition waivers, Honors College scholarships, Admissions Merit scholarships, and other similar programs.

•Works closely with the university foundation to award and establish procedures for awarding foundation scholarships. Serves as main point of contact and maintains the foundation scholarship database.

•Works collaboratively with the Bursar’s Office to reconcile all scholarship accounts.

•Compiles scholarship reports for the Director and makes recommendations for enhancements.

•Responsible for overseeing the administration, awarding, and reconciling of all private/outside scholarships.

•Counsels, advises, and assists students and parents concerning the application, awarding, and availability of scholarships.

•Assists in the management of the Career Source scholarship program and the First Generation Matching Grant.

•Supervises and trains staff on providing quality service, accomplishing program objectives, and using technology and regulations governing student financial aid.

•Responsible for managing the daily operations of the front desk/lobby duties and responsibilities, scheduling, coverage, and student check-in.

•Responsible for developing, managing, scheduling and conducting presentations and participates in financial aid engagement activities to local high schools, university freshmen and transfers orientations, open house (Eagle Expo) and other external organizations.
