Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of demonstrated successful full-time professional, administrative or supervisory experience in administering student financial aid programs. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have a broad knowledge of federal, state and local donor, grant, scholarships and loan program restrictions, regulations and laws. Knowledge and experience working in a high volume, large college environment is also required.



Responsibilities: The Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for the planning, organization and supervision of the Office of Financial Aid Services. This college-wide office administers federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds and services. This position coordinates and manages all financial aid programs, oversees audits, compliance reviews and account reconciliation to ensure institutional compliance with relevant regulations, codes and statutes as well as all federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures The Office of Student Financial Aid Services serves over 15,000 applicants each year with total funding of more than $85 million.



Under the direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director will supervise the Financial Aid Counselors and work with the other administrative and/or professional staff within Financial Aid in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the financial aid and scholarship programs and services. This individual will also direct the development, administration, implementation and evaluation of program activities and operations; prepare and administer annual program budgets and ensure compliance with college policies and applicable state and federal regulations related to financial aid. The Director will provide overall supervision, training and evaluation of his/her staff in the and conduct regular meetings with staff to inform them of program policies, procedures and deadlines; provide the strategic direction and leadership for an innovative, results-oriented financial aid program that is consistent with the goals and mission of the College as well as share information as appropriate, promote the development of ideas for improved services and efficiency, and encourage teamwork.



In addition, this individual will meet with students to resolve satisfactory academic progress appeals, eligibility appeals, enrollment issues, dependency overrides, and payment of college fees and refunds, and may refer students to appropriate student services and meet with students to resolve problems, conflicts, complaints and initiate corrective action. The Director will provide consultation and assistance to support Enrollment Management objectives to recruit and retain students and to provide research and analysis to support institutional policy initiatives related to financial aid awarding. He/She will serve on various campus committees and will be the point person for all financial aid related inquiries from students, parents, staff, faculty and administration; monitor, approve, and/or revise all financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and other policies and procedures and oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Return of Title IV (R2T4) Funds processes. This individual will oversee coordination of student loan processing between students, federal government, and the institution, Title IV refunds and repayments, including U.S. Department of Education and National Student Loan Data System notifications. He/She will represent the office to various funding agencies, media, student groups and other external groups; provide professional leadership and consultation within the State of Florida, as well as various professional associations in ways that benefit the College and the student population that it serves including, but not limited to, FAFSAA, SASFAA, and NASFAA. The Director will coordinate and integrate financial aid operations on all DSC regional campuses; determine annual Cost of Attendance for all categories of students; develop an annual awarding strategy for the available Federal/State/Institutional financial aid funds to optimize the resources in the best interest of DSC and its students and to compliment the enrollment goals of the College.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate must have excellent organizational skills and leadership ability and understand compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines while maintaining a high level of customer service. He/She must have experience using a personal computer, office software such as MS Office and electronic mail. He/she must think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational culture. This individual will exhibit a thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the position, possess a working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis technique and take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. The successful candidate will have the ability to anticipate, investigate, and analyze problems and address them proactively, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. He/She will work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, work independently and follow through on assignments. This individual be detail-oriented and work with a variety of constituencies and be willing to contribute to a team effort. The successful candidate will exercise discretion and good judgment at all times and in all contexts and maintain confidentiality and work effectively with all constituencies of the College. In addition, this individual will collect, organize, analyze and present information in a meaningful manner and collaborate and be effective working with diverse populations



The minimum starting salary is $95,000. Minimal additional compensation may be granted for education and/or experience exceeding the minimum stated job requirements. This is at the sole discretion of Daytona State College.
